Alone
Drifting, gliding
Floating, flying
I watch the world pass before me
Shadows,
of what I wanted to be.
No longer companioned
It was never there.
Many times I thought I had
a friend to journey.
But they were all too brief
my load not shared.
Touch, softness
Love, warmness
I cannot tell if the feelings are there
Locked too deep within my heart
No one to care.
Alone I walk
My burden my own.
Alone I pick the flowers
No one to share.
My path I look back
and see my solitary tracks.
There have been others
but only for a moment
Their tracks came to mine
touched my heart
albeit a short time.
Drifting, gliding
Floating, flying
Alone I travel and watch
the world pass before me.
Shadows of what I wanted to be.
