The waterdrop series were the result of a special projects in photography class I took in college in '94. The theme I chose for the class was stop motion. I chose three subjects for the class: waterdrops, bursting balloons, and waving string. This gallery presents the waterdrop subjects. The bursting balloons will be presented in another gallery that is slated for later implementation. The waving string was, unfortunately, never done for the class because I ran out of time as the bursting balloons took longer than I expected (on the upside, I still got an A in the class).

The original images for the class were done in black & white prints. After the class I redid the images onto slides to get the correct exposure down. In this series of slide images there are three formats: no color, red color, and blue color formats. The colors were the result of using a filter over the flash. The equipment used for these images consisted of: a tripod, flash with remote switch, baking sheet, black tape, clear tape, plastic tube, small red LED flashlight, some wood and of course a 35mm camera. How these images were taken with this equipment I'll leave to your imagination. But if you want to learn how to do it there are books available that explain how this is done. You'd be surprised how easy they are to do.

Note: As of 5/8/03 the images within this gallery have been updated. The images that were scanned were improved and new images have been added that were taken with a digital camera. The scanned images are the 1994 series and the digital camera images are the 2003 series.

Well, enough rambling. I hope you enjoy the images!
